What is really holding you back?
Written by Lindsey Kaszuba
Have you ever stopped to ask yourself why you aren’t doing the healthy habits you keep telling yourself you want to do?
Maybe you’re tired of convincing yourself that you’ll get to the gym and start eating healthier only to feel horrible about yourself when you don’t.
Maybe you’ve eaten healthy all week but by the time the weekend rolls around you binge on all the “cheat” foods you didn’t allow yourself to have during the week.
Or maybe you’re just tired of breaking the promises you’ve made to yourself.
That voice in your head that’s telling you there is something in the way of getting where you want to go…I call that your roadblocks.
Do you know what keeps blocking you from what you really want?
To help you identify your roadblocks, I define them as:
- Sticky areas that are holding us back from where we want to be.
-Walls that we've built around ourselves to protect ourselves.
-The critical voices that come up when we actually start to work on ourselves.
Here are some of my old roadblocks. I say old because I’ve gotten beyond them. I’ve healed these parts of me by using specific tools that help me come back to my true self.
I am not skinny enough. I am not fit enough. I'm not smart enough. I'm not funny enough. I'm not fast enough. I'm not good enough.
Ok, I lied. I’m still working on that last one! Sometimes I still get major imposter syndrome.
Do any of these sound familiar to you?
When you start redefining your “I'm not enoughness” you can start breaking down your roadblocks. Where do you tell yourself you're not enough? Where have you been told you're not enough? Because you are enough exactly where you are.
More often than not our roadblocks are hidden and take a lot of inner work to uncover and heal. But, that’s why you’re really here right?
When I was deep in my roadblocks, these thoughts were common to me…
“you look tired”
“you’re not doing enough”
“your arms are looking a little flabby”
“you look bloated”
“should you really be eating that?!”
It was disheartening and exhausting, to say the least.
But today, everything has changed. I’m so proud of myself every single time I use the tools to bring me back to a place of peace (even in the midst of my often chaotic life). Just last week I gave myself so many mental high-fives for navigating my daughter’s epic meltdown after her first day of Kindergarten. I put the tools I’ve learned over the years to work - and THEY WORKED.
But to be honest, getting here and staying here is a constant practice. It’s certainly not one and done, but these tools allow me to self-regulate my thoughts and emotions which directly impact my actions and habits.
The truth is, it’s not about the number on the scale anymore (it used to be ALL about that number for me). It’s about finding happiness in my health and embracing a simple approach to health - one that is sustainable AND enjoyable.
Even after recently having my third daughter I’m focusing on sticking to the routines that I know feel best for me, and I’m being flexible…because wow three is something else!
It’s time to start having a simpler approach to health so you can live your life, make peace with food & movement, and find joy when you look in the mirror.
In my group coaching program, I’ll help you do just that. Click the button below to learn more and apply for the next cohort. I’m personally reviewing all applications and can’t wait to meet you!
With love & excitement,
Lindsey
